ON THE MECHANISM OF ELECTROCHEMICAL EPOXIDATION OF CYCLOHEXENE

Abstract

Abstract: The electrochemical epoxidation of cyclohexene has been invest gated on Pt anode inH₂O-NaBr--MsCN medium using a rotating disk electrode and a rotating ring-disk electrode.The electrolytic products were identified by means of IR and MS. The results show thatcyclohexene was oxidized into epoxycyclohexane by an EC catalytic mechanism: The calculated rate constant k₁ of the second reaction was (2.1?0.4)?10^-2·s^-1.
