Abstract:

New kinds of rare earth europium complexes (C8H15O2)x(C12H23O2)yEu, which can directly solve in MMA monomer, were synthesized using the caprytlic acid (C8H15O2) and the lauric acid (C12H23O2) as the first ligand by Saponification Method. Photoluminescent PMMA containing rare earth complexes AxByEu/ PMMA (A= -C8H15O2,B= -C12H24O2, x、y was their mol ratio)were prepared by Bulk polymerization. The effect of different second ligand (carbazole, dmbp, phen, HTTA) on the flourescent properties of polymers were studied. Then AxByEu/HTTA/PMMA was prepared using the best second ligand HTTA. The structures and fluorescence properties of the complexes and polymers containing Europium were investigated by IR , UV and Fluorescence spectra spectrum. Results indicated that polymers we obtained emitted strong characteristic of Eu3+ ions. What`s more, even if the quality score of HTTA was 0.02%(wt%), could enhance the characteristic red luminescent of (C8H15O2)3Eu/HTTA/PMMA greatly. While the transparency of polymer wasn`t affected.
