Abstract: The stacking interactions of aromatic rings in the Cu2+bpy-PCA-system (bpy=2,2'-bipyridyl,PCA=phenylcarboxylic acid)have been studied by extraction method in perchloric acid medium. The content of the stacked isomers of the extracted species [Cu(hy-)(PCA)2O)]+ increases in the order; Bz- < PAc- < PPr- < PBu-.The composition of complexes has been determined by slope method and elemental analysis.

Key words: aromatic ring stacking interaction, copper, bipyridyl, phenylcarboxylic acid
