Abstract: The structure of poly(vinyl alcohol)(PVA)/poly(vinyl pyrrolidone)(PVP)blends of va-rious compositions has been studied by wide angle X-ray diffractometry before and afterheat treatment. The plane(101)was observed only at 2θ= 11.4°before heat treatment, butover four planes were found after heat treatment. The degree of crystallinity and crystal-lite size were decreased with increasing the PVP content in blends. Applying Hosemann’sconcept of paracrystallinity as well as Cauchy and Gaussian function approximations, parameters of the crystallite size, strain and the second kind lattice distortion have beencalculated.
