PREPARATION OF ACTIVATED MANGANESE DIOXIDE BY INDIRECT ELECTROCATALYTIC OXIDATION

Abstract

Abstract: An indirect. electro-oxidation method for the preparation of activated manganese dioxideis proposed based on the following electrocatalytic feactions: The process is carried out at room temperature with current density of ten to seventytimes as that used in the.commercial process.The product (ECMD) had discharge capacity11.5% more than that of EMD obtained by direct electrooxidation .The amount of combinedwater and the apparent surface area were 13.4% and 83.3 m²·g^-1, but 3.9% and 52.2m²·g^-1for EMD sample respectively. The ECMD obtained contained 4.2% silver oxide.
