Abstract: In recent years, research on trifluoromethylation reactions have been developed rapidly. Since the special chemical and physical properties of the trifluoromethyl group, it plays an increasingly important role in the fields of medicine, pesticides and materials. As the result, a new recognition of radical trifluoromethylation has been achieved along with the development of organofluorine chemistry. This article delivered an overview of the recent progress of radical trifluoromethylation from the perspective of various radical trifluoromethylative precursors as well as reaction mechanisms.

Key words: free radical reactions, trifluoromethylation, photoredox catalysis, trifluoromethyl reagent, single electron  , transfer
