Abstract: The polyaniline film electrodes incorporated with platinum microparticles by cyclicpotential sweep were prepared and the electrocatalytic activity and stability were studied onoxidation of formaldehyde in 0.5mol/L H2SO4. The electrodes which combine both electroac-tivity and catalytic activity exhibit a very high electrocatalytic activity for oxidation offormaldehyde in aqueous acidic solution. The catalytic currents at the platinum microparticlemodified polyaniline electrode were ten times larger than those at naked platinum electrode. The catalytic activity depends strongly on the size, distribution and amount of the loadedplatinum microparticles, as well as on the concentration of formaldehyde and the electrodematerial.
