Abstract: Nine novel bicopper complexes of N,N,N',N″,N″-pentabenzimidazolylmethyl diethylenetriamine were synthesized and characterized by IR,UV-vis,ESR and magnetic susceptibity measurements. Their catecholase and bioactivities were measured. There appeared an antiferromagnetic exchange interaction between copper ions within the complexes. The coordination bond Cu-N was partially covanlent. It was found for the first time that the compounds containing benzimidazole ligand have antitumer activities in vitro and herbicidal and fungicidal activities as well.
