Research Progress on the Preparation Methods of BaMgF4 Powders

Abstract:

Barium magnesium fluoride (BaMgF4) materials not only own excellent properties such as ferroelectricity, optical properties, and multiferroic properties, but also, as a fluoride, have the advantages of low phonon energy, high luminous efficiency, and excellent chemical stability. BaMgF4 has been widely used as the solid-state laser material and the luminescent matrix of rare earth ions in recent years. However, it has always been a key problem to be solved in the synthesis process to obtain pure phase BaMgF4 nanopowders with suitable size and morphology. The various preparation technologies of BaMgF4 materials are summarized. In terms of raw materials, fluorinating agents, and reaction conditions, etc., the continuous improvement and perfection of each method in the application process are introduced in details. The characteristics and limitations of different preparation processes are comprehensively compared and analyzed, and the references for the synthesis and application of high performance BaMgF4 materials in the future are also provided.
