Research Progress of Biosafety Materials and Technology of Genetic Resource Preservation

Abstract: Biological genetic resources are the material basis for human survival, and their long-term preservation and utilization also play an important role in national strategy. Especially with the improvement of medical research, the safe preservation and standardized utilization of human genetic recourses have attracted great attention in our nation, and the Regulations of the People′s Republic of China on Administration of Human Genetic Resources was promulgated simultaneously. However, the difficulty of standardization and safety problems have limited the genetic resource preservation technology. In this review, we clarify the development history, the difficulty, and the protection materials of current preservation technologies, and summarize the latest research progress of novel biomaterials on various kinds of genetic resources preservation. This review will provide a comprehensive information and strong support to exploit the safe and standardized genetic preservation technologies.
