Abstract: Conjugated diene solution polymerization catalyzed by polynuclear Nd-Al bimetallic complex was further studied. Results indicate that the activity of the active species was imporved by appropriate shaking time. The purity of the polymerization system and the stability of the active species were examined by additional AIEt,. The type of solvent had obviously influence on the activity of the active species and the molecular weight of polymers obtained, the order of activity being toluene≥cyclohexane>:n-hexane,and conversely, the order of [η] being toluene <n-hexane. Difference monomers had different features of stereospecific polymerization;cis-1,4 microstructure content of polybutadiene was lower and varied more obviously with the experimental conditions than that of polyisoprene. The results aid in deepgoing understanding of the stereospecific polymerization initiated by rare earth catalyst.
