SYNTHESIS AND STRUCTURAL STUDIES OF SIDE CHAIN LIQUID CRYSTALLINE POLYACRYLATES CONTAINING PARA-NITRO AZOBENZENE—Ⅱ.THE EFFECT OF MOLECULAR STRUCTURE ON Tg

Abstract: The glass-transition temperatures of the side chain liquid crystalline polyacrylates containing para-nitro azobenzene have been studied by DSC. It was found that the Tg value decreased with increasing the length of the spacer and MA content in the copolymers. But for the copolymers containing acrylic acid the Tg is higher than that of the corresponding homopolymers owing to the presence of hydrogen bond.
