Studies on Metal Ion Coordination Crosslinking of Soap free Acrylate Copolymer Hydrosol Coating Ⅰ.Synthesis and Characterization of Acrylate Copolymer

Abstract: The soap free hydrosol, which was crosslinked by Zn(NH3)2+ 4 to form coating film, has been prepared from acrylate copolymer from (methyl metacrylate/butyl acrylate/acrylic acid/styrene (or divinylbenzene). The coating films have better water resistance due to the presence of benzene ring in the copolymer, which has been characterized by 13C NMR, IR and GPC for molecular weight determination.
