Abstract: The effects of γ-ray irradiation on the structure of the solution-grown polyethylene single crystals were studied by means of the infrared spectroscopy, X-ray wide angle diffraction and small angle scattering as well as differential scanning calorimetry on the mixed crystals of polyethylene and deuterated polyethylene. The results showed that appreciable structural defects and distortions were caused by the γ-ray irradiation in the ordered regions consisting of regularly folded crystalline stems.
