Abstract: The amidation and imidization processes of some aromatic tetracarboxylic esters with 4,4'-diaminodiphenyl methane have been studied by thermal analysis. The reaction tempera-tures and apparent activation energies for both reactions were found to be lower than thosefor the corresponding free acids with diamine used.Polyimides obtained from ammoniumsalts showed good thermal stability.
