Abstract:

Near-infrared fluorescence squaraine/polyvinyl alcohol(PVA) binary and squaraine/hydrophilic graphene/PVA ternary polymers with stronger fluorescence(660~665 nm) intensity, photostability and thermostability were designed and synthesized from a squaraine dye, water soluble graphene and PVA. Compared to those in water, the maximum UV-Vis absorption and fluorescence wavelengths of the squaraine in PVA showed red shifts, and the fluorescence intensity and photostability were significantly enhanced. The presence of the graphene improved the photostability and thermostability of the material.
