Abstract: γ-(β-Cyanoethylmercapto)propyltriethoxysilane has been synthesized from γ-mercaptopropyltriethoxysilane via Michael addition with acrylonitrile in the presence of sodium ethoxide. The silicon monomer was hydrolyzed and immobilized by water and fumed silica, then reacted with potassium chloroplatinite in acetone to give the title complex. It has been found that the title complex is an effective catalyst for hydrosilylation of decene, dodecene, phenyl allyl ether, allyl glycidyl ether, etc. with triethoxysilane and can be reused several times without any noticeable loss of activity.
