Abstract: Schiff bases derived from salicylaldehyde and alanine or leucine and their Mn(Ⅱ),Co(Ⅱ),Ni(Ⅱ),Cu(Ⅱ),Zn(Ⅱ)complexes are synthesized. The structures of the com-plexes are characterized by elemental analysis, molar conductance, magnetic susceptibility, electronic spectra and infrared spectra. The stability constants of the complexes are determined.Experiments show that the antibacterial activity of the complexes is stiperior to thatof the ligands.
