Abstract: Conductive polypyrrole(PPy ) films were prepared on the surface of YBa2Cu3O7 superconductors through electrochemical synthesis or chemical method to prevent YBa2Cu3O7 from corroding in reactive environments. The resuIts showed that the electrochemical polymerization destroyed the superconductivity of YBa2Cu3O7,whereas the chemical coating of PPy/PVC on YBa2Cu3O7 did not affect the superconductivity.Furthermore, the chemical PPy/PVC coatings could greatly improve the superconductors stability in water and acid.
