Abstract

Abstract: More than twenty borate glasses doped with Sm³⁺ or again Bi³⁺ ions have been investi-gated.The strongest fluorescence intensities of Sm³⁺ ions exhibited when the M_mO_n wasLi₂O or MgO in B₂O₃-BaO-M_mO_n (M_mO_n: Li₂O, Na₂O, K₂O, MgO, CaO, SrO) glass sys-tem.The luminescence emission peaks of Sm³⁺ ions shifted towards higher wavelengths withthe increase of radius of alkali metal or alkaline-earth metal ions Bi³⁺ ions sensitize the Sm³⁺ luminescence by a factor of 1.1～2.3.
