Abstract: Polyaryletherketone copolymers of high molecular weight have been synthesized bypolycondensation of phenolphthalein(PPh), hydroquinone (HQ) and 4,4'-dichlorobenzophenone(DCBP) using K2CO3 as a catalyst and sulfolane as solvent. Both amorphous and crystallinecopolymers can be made depending on the molar ratio of PPh to HQ.The copolymers have preliminarily been characterized by IR, DSC and WAXD techniques.Tg of the copolymers were between 143℃(Tg of pure HQ-PEK) and 228℃(Tg of pure PPh-PEK), attd they incrsase monotonically as a function of PPh content in the copolymers. The copolymers increase have better solvent and heat resistance prorerties than pure PPh-PEK (PEK-C).
