Abstract: Di-iso-propyl fumarate (DiPF) polymerizes easily using azo-bis-isobutyronitrile as aninitiator at 50~80℃.On the basis of IR、1H NMR and 13C NMR spectra measuements, itis concluded that the polymer is formed through vinyl polymerization mechanism. The ove-rall apparent activation energy for polymerization was determined to be 79.8kJ/mol.The glasstransition temperature determined by TBA technique is 203℃.The colorless powder-like polymer is sluble in toluene, benzene, tetrahydrofuran andchloroform. The thermal properties of the polymer are briefly described.

Key words: di-iso-propyl fumarate, radical polymerization
