Preparation of Long-Chain Fatty Acid Esters of Cellulose in LiCl/DMAc System and Their Drug Release Properties

Abstract: Long-chain fatty acid esters of cellulose were prepared by the reaction of cellulose with acid chlorides in LiCl/DMAc solution.The effects of reaction conditions on the degree of substitution were studied.The results showed that the degree of substitution could reach 2.85 under proper reaction conditions. The drug release properties from these cellulose ester matrixes were also investigated.
