Abstract: The new ligand 4-acetylbiphenyl thiosemicarbazone and its complex with Cu(Ⅱ) were synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, molar conductance, infrared and electronic spectra. The stability constant of the complex was determined using pH method. The antibacterial activities of the ligand and the complex against S. aureus, S. flexneri 2b, B. subtilis, B. proteus and A. aerogenes were examined. Experimental results showed that both have high antibacterial activities and the complex is more active than the ligand.
