Abstract: Polystyrene(PS)has been blended with chlorinated polyethylene(CPE)or itsgraft copolymer(CPE-g-St).The dependence of mechanical properties of the blends on theCPE content, chlorine content in CPE and grafting ratio has been investigated. The resultsshowed that with the CPE(38% Cl)content of 25%, the impact strength of PS/CPE-g-Stblend reached 18.5kJ穖-2,2.1 times to that of PS/CPE blend and higher than that of thecommercial HIPS.The tensile strength of PS/CPE-g-St blend was more than 34MPa. Dy-namic mechanical analysis and SEM results showed a better compatibility between CPE andPSt in PS/CPE-g-St blend.
