Abstract: The molybdenum compounds of alkanol amines are used as catalysts in the epoxidationof propylene with tert-butyl hydroperoxide (TBHP).The compounds showed a great activityto the epoxidation reaction, giving 100% conversion of TBHP and 94% selectivity to pro-pylene oxide in 120 min.and at 100℃, even if the molar ratio of propylene to TBHP wasas low as 1.5.The reaction with equimolar ratio of olefin to TBHP also gave high yield ofepoxide. The optimum temperature range is 80~100℃.

Key words: molybdenum complex, epoxidation, propylene oxide
