Abstract: An efficient and facile procedure for the synthesis of epoxiconazole from (Z)-3-(1H-1,2,4-triazole)-2-(4-fluorophenyl)-1-(2-chlorophenyl)propene was reported. An overall yield up to 80% can be achieved in the presence of pyridine-2-carboxylic acid manganese(Ⅱ) complex as catalyst and 30% mass fraction of hydrogen peroxide as terminal oxidant. This process has the potential for industrial scale up.

Key words: pyridine-carboxylic acid manganese(Ⅱ) complex, epoxidation, epoxiconazole
