Abstract: The electrochemical reduction of Nd3+ on platinum electrode in equal molar NaCl-KCl melt was found to proceed in two steps. One electron is involved in the first step,at which nothing was deposited on the surface of the electrode through controlled potential electrolysis. The final product of the second step was metallic Nd found by X-ray energy diffractionspectroscopy.
