Three-Component One-Pot Synthesis of (E)-β-(Alkoxy)arylethylenes

Abstract

Abstract: A series of (E)-β-(alkoxy)arylethylenes was synthesized by the one-pot three-component reaction of substituted benzyl alcohol, dimethyl sulfoxide and alkyl alcohols under mild conditions. This method has the advantages of high yields(68%～82%) and simple workup. The structures of the products were identified by 1H NMR, 13C NMR spectra and elemental analysis. In addition, the probable mechanism for the reaction was proposed.
