Abstract: A new polymerizable fluorescent dye with high fluorescence quantum yield(0.69) was synthesized. The dye possesses even better photo stability than commercial dye Rhodamine B. The fluorescent ultrafine polymer nanoparticles were obtained by emulsion polymerization initialized by redox initiator. The average diameter of the nanoparticles prepared by Triton X-100 as emulsifier and methyl methacrylate(MMA) as assistant emulsifier and monomer is 22 nm, while the diameter is about 150 nm without MMA. The benzyl chloride groups provide an easy way to further function.
