Abstract: Single crystalline nanoarrays of ZnO were in situ grown on cheap zinc foil at 140 ℃ for 12 h in p-aminopyridine(p-APD, 1.0 mol/L) medium through a simple one-step hydrothermal method. The crystal features and morphology of the products were characterized and observed by X-ray diffraction(XRD), scanning electron microscopy(SEM) and high-resolution transmission electron microscopy(HRTEM), respectively. The possible synthetic mechanism of the ZnO was discussed. The as-prepared ZnO shows a high photocatalytic ability towards the degradation of Rhodamine B under UV irradiation.
