High Efficient Synthesis of 1-Azabicyclo[2.2.2]octane

Abstract: 1-Azabicyclo[2.2.2]octane(quinuclidine) was obtained via the direct intramolecular dehydration reaction of 4-(2-hydroxyethyl) piperidine vapor in presence of CNM-3, a solid acidic catalyst. The yield of quinuclidine can reach 76.8% at 425 ℃ for 4 h with the highest yield up to 84.3%. Due to the easy accessible of the precursors, the established method is believed to be promising for the scale-up of quinuclidine.
