Abstract: The epoxy resin E-51 has been modified with a new prepolymer containing spiroorthocarbonate. It is found that the addition of the prepolymer into epoxy resin system enhances the conversion of epoxy groups with the Tg and thermal stability of the matrix beingslightly reduced. The adhesive tensile and shear strengths of the modified resin increased obviousely with the increase in prepolymer content. The relationship between the shrinkageand adhesive strengths of the products also has been investigated.
