Abstract: The organoclay has been prepared from short chain alkylammonium ion exchanged montmorillonite. The clay nanolayers can be homogeneously dispersed in epoxy matrix under curing in polyetheramine at 125℃. The organoclay structure and molecular dispersion of the layered silicates were verified using X-ray diffraction. Better reinforcement mechanical proporties for short chain molecule exchanged organoclay have been achieved.
