Extraction of Polyphenols with Tri-n-Octylamice in Organic Diluents

Abstract

Abstract: Extraction of catechol and 1,3,5-trihydroxybenzene hy tri-n-octylamine(in ben-zene or octanol)lias been studied.The effects of organic diluents, pH and concentration of Na₂SO₄ on the distribution coefficient D have been investigated. FTIR analysis of the organicphase shows that trioctylamine forms complexes with phenols through hydrogenbond or ionicassociation. The compositions of complexes have been determined.
