Abstract: The graft copolymer of glycidyl methacrylate(GMA) onto corn starch has been reactedwith glycine. The products, Cs-g-PGMA-Gly, are able to adsorb metal ions, such as Au3+,Pd2+, Cr3+, and Cd2+ in high percentage.

Key words: corn starch, glycidyl methacrylate, glycine, graft copolymer, adsorbability, Au3+, Pd2+, Cr3+, Cd2+
