Abstract: This study deals with properties and thermal reactions of Co3[Fe(CN)6]2 supported onsilica, γ-alumina and magnesia. The final solid products of thermal decomposition in hy-drogen atmosphere consisted of Co-Fe alloy and highly dispersed surface Fe(Ⅱ)ions.HCNwas formed on silica and γ-alumina as a result of (CN)2 hydrogenation. Neither HCN norNH3 was produced on magnesia because of the basicity of the support. Thus HCN maybe considered as an intermediate of the hydrogenation process from (CN)2 to NH3.

Key words: Cobalt ferricyanide, Cyanogen, Catalytic hydrogenation, Thermal reaetion
