Abstract: The orientation and relaxation of a crosslinked and poled polymer based on the re-action of glycerin monoether of 4-[(p-nitrophenyl)azo] phenol with biuret of hexamethylenediisocyanate have been studied by UV-Vis spectra and second harmonic generation (SHG)techniques.Second order nonlinear susceptibility χ(2),second harmonic coefficient d33 andelectro-optic coefficientγ33 were determined. The d33 of the crosslinked and poled polymerwas in the range of 10-8~10-7 esu and kept constant for a period of 100h after poling and crosslinking.

Key words: crosslinked polymer, second harmonic generation, second harmonic coefficient, electro-optic coefficient
