Abstract: The acidity of the catalyst Co-Mo-K/Al2O3 has been examined by pyridine adsorption. It is found that potassium doping decieased the acidity and increased the cataytic acti-vity in water gas shift process. The loss of sulfur from sulfurized catalyst decreased theactivity. This fact is interpreted in terms of the increase of the acidity owing to theformation of oxygen coordinated Mo6+ species.A reaction mechanism was proposed.
