Abstract: Mercuric ion selective PVC membrane electrodes based on eight thiacrown ethers wereprepared and their electrode behavior was evaluated. These electrodes exhibited a linear res-ponse to the mercuric ion within the concentration range of 10-6~10-3mol/L Hg(NO3)2 with slope of 45~58mV per decade. The lowest limit of linear response extended to 10-6mol/L.

Key words: thiacrown ether, mercuric ion, ion selective electrode
