Solid chemistry and materials science of rare earth; technology and application of rare earth bio-materials

 

Research Description

ZHANG Hongjie is committed to researches of rare earth functional materials focusing on the structure and functional relationship of materials and dedicated to providing solutions to key scientific and technological obstacles. Also, he develops new methods and techniques for material preparation and works out new techniques and methods for material preparation. For example, in one research he integrated fundamentals, high-tech, and research application and developed a new rare earth material which was successfully applied in the fields including rare earth AC LED illumination, environment-friendly rare earth coloring agent, hyper-sonic wind tunnel temperature testing in aerospace, rare earth magnesium alloy car spares, and weapons in national defense and military industry. He published over 500 academic articles which were cited for 36000 times and has 72 patents for invention. He won a number of awards including the second prize of State Natural Science Award of China, the achievements of outstanding science and technology China Academy Award, Outstanding Contribution Award of Jilin Province, first prize of Technical Innovation Award of Jilin Province, first prize of Science and Technology Progress Award of Jilin Province, “Outstanding Yong Scholar” by Qiu Shi Science and Technology Foundation, Gold Kangaroo Innovation Award.

 

 

Research Direction

Basic research and application of the preparation, composition, and functions of rare earth functional materials;

Basic research and application of rare earth bio-materials;

Application of lanthanide-doped fluorescence probes in NIR-fluorescence imaging, diagnosis and treatment, and diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease;

Development and biological application of rare earth doped upconverting laser;

Light weight and high strength rare earth protein fiber materials;

Ultra-high density data storage using both rare earth and framework nucleic acid;

Application of rare earth protease in degrading plastics and stimuli-responsive fluid rare earth materials.
