Synthesis and Characterization of Copolyesters Containing Bis(4-hydroxyphenyl) methanone

Abstract: A series of thermotropic liquid crystalline copolyesters was synthesized by melt polycondensation from bis (4-hydroxyphenyl) methanone,terephthalic acid, p-hydroxybenzoic acid and aliphatic diols. The resulting copolyesters were characterized by WAXD, DSC and PLM.All the copolyesters formed a nematic phase.
