Synthesis and Characterization of Mixed Ligand Complexes of Rare Earths with Amino Acids

Abstract

Abstract: The ternary complexes RE(Gly)_2.5(Ala)_1.5(ClO₄)₃·H₂O(RE=La～Lu except Pm;Gly=glycine;Ala=L-alanine) have been synthesized in aqueous solution and characterized by elemental analysis,amino acid analysis,IR,¹H NMR,¹³C NMR, X-ray diffraction,thermal analysis and fluorescence spectrometry.The fluorescence intensities of the complexes of Eu(Ⅲ) and Tb(Ⅲ) (Eu:⁵D₀→⁷F₂;Tb:⁵D₀→⁷F₅,⁷F₆) have increased by 10-fold as compared with those of the corresponding perchlorate hydrates of Eu(Ⅲ) and Tb(Ⅲ).
