Abstract

Abstract: Potassium persulfate-urea (KPS-U) appeared an effective initiation system for the graft copolymerization of methyl methacrylate (MMA) onto alginic acid. Infrared spectral analysis has been adopted to prove the structure of the reaction product. The better grafting efficiency (G%) and graft efficiency (E%) were obtained at [KPS]=4.0×10^-3mol/L,[MMA]=4.0×10^-1mol/L,[KPS]:[U]=1,alginic acid of 2.0g/100mL,at 50℃ in 5h.
