Abstract: The extraction kinetics of Sc (Ⅲ) in sulfuric acid solution with N1923 in n-hexane hadbeen investigated using ascending single drop technique. The effects of the concentrations of Sc3+, H+, SO42, N1923 and temperature on the extraction rate have been examined. Noinfluence was found from hydrogen ion concentration in the aqueous. solution. Under lowaqueous sulfate ion concentrations, the extraction rate equation can be expressed as: R=K[Sc3+][RNHi+](i) [SO42-]2 The mechanism of extraction appears to be RNH2(i) + H(i)+—→RNH3(i)+ fast Sc(a)3+ + 2SO4(a)2- —→Sc(SO4)2(a)- equilibrium Sc(SO4)2(i)- + RNH3(i)+ ——[RNH3+][Sc(SO4)2-](i) RDS.
