Mn³⁺ INITATED GRAFT COPOLYMER OF ACRYLONITRILE ONTO STARCH

Abstract

Abstract: The graft copolymer,of acrylonitrile onto corn starch was prepared by using [Mn(H₂P₂O₇)₃]^3-as initiator and its morphology, structure and thermal stability have been studied,using scanning electron microscopy, x-ray diffraction and thermogravimetric analysis. The result showed that compared with the raw starch the grafted starch granules becamelarge in size, rough in surface and its shape was changed. The crystallinity of the grafted starch granules decreased with thermal stability being increased.
