Abstract: Five complexes [Cu(FDSC)2]Cl2, [Cu(FDTSC)2]Cl2, [Cu(N-FDSC)]Cl2], [Zn(N-FDTSC)2] and [Ni(N-FDTSC)2] have been synthesized and characterized FDSCH=N-(2-furfural)-semicarbazone,FDTSCH=N-(2- furfural)-thiosemicarbazone,N-FDSCH=N-(5-nitro-2 -furfural)-semicarbazone and N-FDTSCH=N-(5-nitro-2-furfural)-thiosemicar-bazone.It is found that N-FDSCH, N-FDTSCH, [Cu(N-FDSC)]Cl2] and [Zn(N-FDTSC)2] showed a significant bacteriostasis on Staphylococcus aureus, Bacillus subtilis and Escherichia Coli. The relationship between the bacteriostatic activity and the structure of the compounds is discussed in the paper.
