Abstract: Synthetic conditions of β, ω-dihydroxyl polystyrene were studied. Effects of different difunctional anionic initiators and solvents on the anionic polymerization of styrene, especially on the molecular weight distribution, were compared. The reaction between living polystyrene and ethylene oxide was investigated and the association of polystyrene anions has been discussed.
