Abstract:

Reclaimed rubbers are prepared by mechanochemical regeneration method using waste tire rubber powder as raw materials. The effect of different dosages of activator 420 on the properties of reclaimed rubbers is studied. With increasing the activator content, the Shore hardness and crosslinking density of recycled rubber continue to decrease, while the tensile strength, elongation at break and gel content first increase and then decrease. When the activator content is 0.9 phr, the tensile strength and the maximum elongation at break reach the maximal and the maximum gel content of the recycled rubber is 19.7%. The microscopic morphology shows that the particles of the rubber powder of the waste tire tread are relatively dispersed. The structural particles of the recycled rubber are adhered to each other, and there are many holes and defects. The Mooney viscosity decreases with increasingof the activator content. On the whole, the optimum content of activator 420 is 0.9 phr, and the properties of recycled rubber are the best.
